Off to Vegas
Las Vegas is calling long distance and I’m about to pick up.
Last year I asked this website and in turn, the universe, to find these people. To what end even I wasn’t sure, since I just figured that I would deal with that when I needed too.
Of course, the universe provided as it always seems to do when asked nicely—provided in almost exactly the way I had hoped for. I don’t know why that surprises me any more. Every time I have asked for something, put it down in writing and preferably drawn a picture, the universe has given me a pretty damn close facsimile to the request. I don’t know if this is true for everyone but this seems to work in our family pretty well. I remember years ago drawing out a picture of our old blue van before we even knew what kind of car we wanted and a few months later when we were looking it was the only van Kirk was selling at Ball Auto.
I have also found that the more complete the request, the more the request resembles the original intention. What strikes me as strange though is were I to have seen the van in a line up of cars I would never have picked up out as the car for us, even though when I later looked at the picture we had drawn, it couldn’t have looked any closer to what we drew.
It makes me wonder about other requests the universe might have given me without me recognizing it as the answer to a long forgotten question. More than I care to count I imagine. In hindsight they probably happen all the time, like when I’m looking at something in a store only to realize later that it was something we needed back at home.
There will be cameras to take pictures and I will of course, be bringing the laptop to do a little drunken writing. I am only making two requests for this extravaganza: One that everyone enjoys the time that they have together, and two: that I’m given a way to put it into my writing, my art, and my music.
Speaking of music, I’ve gotten my new 12 string back from the shop and the luther did a fantastic job on the neck. It is easily the best sounding 12 string I have ever played and this includes the new 12 string Michael from the Prairie Dogs bought a few years back. The luther was pretty excited about it as well and told me it was one of the nicest sounding guitars he’s played in quite a while.
Speaking of art, the suitcase project is in full swing and you can read all about it here. There’s a gallery where you can see a picture of the one I made as well as all of the suitcases the other artists made. Pretty neat stuff.
See you all when I get back.
