Birthday Wishes
Sweetie made my great grandma Chrissie’s chocolate cake with chocolate frosting and chocolate pudding between the layers. There are only two cakes I ever want on my birthday, one is the aforementioned chocolate cake, and the other is Big Yellow Cake. BYK comes from Sweeties side of the family and it involves cool whip, caned mandarins, caned pineapple and a box of yellow cake mix. It’s a classic example of how the sum is better than the parts. (Though if you were to put a can of mandarin oranges in front of me right now, I would gladly eat the whole thing.)
Ike decided not to participate in the festivities this year, as he now dislikes anything and everything related to birthdays. I think he's even started a list called "100 sounds I can't stand, by IKE" and right below “10.Unwrapping Presents” is “11.Singing”. Those two things coupled with the fact that The Older Boy is participating and no amount of getting Ike to help unwrap or hold the gifts can make up for the fact that his big brother is clearly doing things that he can’t, and this makes him very cranky and unhappy.
In all fairness, Ike did participate for a little while, but by the time we got to the cake and ice cream, we'd already sold him to the gypsies.
Sweetie bought me an Ipod which I have been enjoying, The Older Boy got me a fire box for my grill, and Ike gave me a long wanted Mandoline slicer. Unfortunately for me, most of my CD’s are currently in storage, due to this weekends impending move. I did manage to have one unpacked box of discs and have put a little over 50 CD’s in it so far.
Speaking of the move, it is almost upon us. The single wide is loaded up with boxes and cleaned out closets. Dewy and Ham took our dining room table so alongside the piano and the blue couch, that’s one more thing we don’t have to move.
Moving day is Saturday: 10 am.
We will feed you and make you drink beer and all we ask in return is your participation, friendship and good will.
A pretty great bargain for only a few hours work.
